Explore Midwest Diving

Explore Midwest Diving is a fun diving program with a simple objective ... get local divers to dive more by introducing them to new dive sites and each other.

Membership in the program is informal. There are no dues and the only participation requirement is to be a certified diver. It's a great way to meet other divers in the area, demo new equipment, learn about an upcoming class or just blow some bubbles with friends. No dive buddy is necessary; there are always people in the group looking for dive buddies.

Explore Midwest Diving events are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month from April through November. For all events, we will meet at the dive site at 9:00AM (except as noted) for a dive briefing, then dive as much as we can/want that day. When the day is over, we normally go out to dinner and everyone is welcome to join. There are always divers that stick around and dive on Sunday and we encourage all those that want to participate in Sunday's dives to do so.

Demo gear...

All demo gear is arranged directly with Midwest Scuba prior to the event. The gear will be yours to use for the weekend. There are limited quantities of some of the bigger items - i.e. computers, BCDs, etc. - so make your arrangements early.

Giveaways... (NEW in 2008)

This year, Midwest Scuba will be giving away a free air fill card at each event. Everyone that attends will be eligible for the drawing. Also, at the November social, Midwest Scuba will have a giveaway for a scuba tank; for each event that you attend during the year, you will get your name entered into the drawing. For example: If you come to all 8 events, your name will be in the hat 8 times for the drawing. Note: Staff and employees are not eligible for either item.

Releases...

If you are planning on attending any of the Explore Midwest Diving weekends, the only formalities you must complete are two simple forms. These forms can be printed off our web site by the following links below, or you can stop by Midwest Scuba and our friendly staff will assist you with getting the required paperwork completed. These releases will cover you for all Explore Midwest Diving events for 2008. Participants will still need to fill out the individual releases for the dive sites when they pay their entrance fees.

Yahoo Groups ...

Explore Midwest Divers has a group page on Yahoo groups. This group allows you to see who is going on the Saturday dives and send messages out to others. Using this free service will connect participants so that they may schedule carpools, share rooms or any other detail before each weekend. We also have photos from prior trips posted in Yahoo Groups. Everyone in the group will get an e-mail just before the event of the current conditions, any last minute changes and current water temperatures.
